Tony, isthe second of four children in the household of Joseph Angel Melendez Escoto(San Salvador, El Salvador 1939, Los Angeles CA 1984) and Sara MariaRodriguez(Rivas Nic. 1943). Born without arms due to the ravages of a drug prescribed by a physician's order to his mother during pregnancy. Thedrug Thalidomide was to calm theeffects of nausea in the first half of pregnancy. Tony played football (soccer) in ChineseHigh School, had no limitations during highschool, and hated his artificial arms, which, over some time, ended up in a trash can. He is married, his wife and two children are hergreatestinspiration. It was his father who gave him his first guitar lessons and that oldSpanish guitar that belonged to his father is one of its mostprecious treasures. So todayis in the United States, in the city of Branson MO, leading a busy schedule of concerts andmotivational talks have been accompanied by the writing of abook: "A Gift Of Hope" ("Agift of hope "), written in English, translated into Castilian today. Is famous for itsinterpretation to 6,000 young people atthe Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles onSeptember 15, 1987, for Pope John Paul II. The Pope's words were: "Tony, you are truly acourageous young man.You are giving hope to us all. My wish for you is to continue to givehope to all people."
He also wrote a book called "Do not tell me you do not."
