“Here's your list of friends in the order they died.” The cruel teacher, Kitano, informed therest of the students that were alive in the game the ones who had died. The film “Battle Royale” begins in a school where a teacher is mistreated by his students, abused by not paying attention and notshowing respect to him because they are not well educated. Once the teacher has the opportunity, he takes revenge on them and will teach them how to behave with a survival exercise. “Battle Royale” isa metaphor for adolescence because it shows the immaturity of the teacher by creating this game is similar to the immaturity of adolescences. The adolescences in this film will see and understand theworld through a violent lens due to the game.
It is a curious film, both in how it develops and its plot. This movie wants to show hatred, love, jealousy, resentment, honesty, and otherfeelings the people feel throughout their live around others. Throughout the film the viewer see how the different players react to the situation and how one after another die. With such antecedents of beingyoung rebels, it was expected that these adolescences will start killing each other as soon the weapons were available. However, the viewer will find that they are not as fierce as the teacherdescribes them. Protective attitudes emerge, alliances are created to escape from there alive, and others commit suicide rather than compete with their peers. Of course, there is always the class weirdo,the one who loses control, and the villain who enjoys killing every living thing that crosses their path. But most of the deaths occur more by fear, distrust or fatal mistakes.
