Learning and Personality Styles
When I first started reading the chapter two of the textbook, I didn’t knowwhat a learning style was or how a personality type influences a person. I always liked to analyze the information by myself and then teach others on a step by step basis the learned material. Tryingthat, I never knew why other people didn’t understand what I was trying to teach them; even known I was telling them in detail and on a step by step basis how to do it. I learned that the way theylearn and suck in the information is different from mine. For that reason, is worth it to understand all the different learning and personality styles and use that knowledge to help all our friends,family and coworkers to take advantage of each learning and personality style.
For example,
If a coworker has a Verbal/Linguistic learning style, instead to try teaching him with a fancy PowerPointpresentation is better to give him the manual or textbook to read it by himself because he is good at extracting the important content of it and he will be the one doing the presentation so others canlearn from him.
The better way to communicate and collaborate with a person who has an intrapersonal learning style is to give him more room. Let him analyze the material, study by himself and everyonce in a while call him and ask him a few questions to make sure that he fully understands the material. Listen to him, I bet that we can learn from him as well because he took the time that we didn’ttake to introduce deeply himself into the material. If he ask a question, don’t give him a superficial answer, give him something that he can analyze, something that will allow him to understand thewhy and not only the how.
In the other hand, if his learning style is interpersonal. Put him in a group of people in which he can feel useful, let him communicate with others at the same time that...
