Irregular Verbs – Verbos Irregulares


‘An irregular verb’ es aquel cuyo pasado ‘past’ y pasado participio ‘past participle’ no se construye añadiendo –d o –ed. No hay regla que especifique como formarlos, por consiguiente deben de aprenderse de memoria.

to oversleep – quedarse dormido (más de la hora debida)
to stand up – ponerse de pie
to stand some one – dejar esperando a alguien
to stand aside – pararse o ponerse a un lado
to stand in the way –cerrar el paso, estar en el medio
to stand out – resaltar, sobresalir
to be standing – estar de pie
to bring out – ocasionar, traer por resultado
to bring up – educar o criar
to bring to light – revelar o descubrir
to bring to terms – obligar a alguien a convenir
to hear from – tener noticias de…
to hear about – tener noticias de…
to hear something said – oirdecir, anunciar algo
to sing out of tune – desafinar, cantar fuera de tono
to sing a baby to sleep – dormir un bebe cantándole

To Do (duu) and to Make (méik) – Verbos Irregulares


To do como verbo principal significa ’hacer’ en muchos casos. Su idea es mas general.

Ejemplo:
✓I did Louis a favor – Le hice un favor a Luis
✓ I did my job – Hice mi trabajo.

To make traduce hacer, pero significando ‘fabricar o construir.’ Cuando ‘to make’ denota la idea de ‘obligar o forzar’ el verbo que le sigue no lleva la partícula TO.

Ejemplo:
✓ She makes me mad – Ella me hace enfadar.
✓ My uncle made her go back – Mi tío la hizo regresar.
