Micro Economy
Mexico is the 14 largest economy in the world, a member of the G20 and the OECD known also as “the rich country club”. So if all of this is true why do we see misery? Why don´t thingswork properly? Why it´s so hard to get a job? The answer isn´t really on macro economy, it isn´t really of big business or big GDP or free commerce. It is all about the micro economy; it is all aboutthe “tortilleria” in your street and the store at the end of the block.
But first I would like to explain what micro economy is. Microeconomics is the behavior of individual households and firms inmaking decisions on the allocation of limited resources. Typically, it applies to markets where goods or services are bought and sold. It help us improve business conditions and businessopportunities, increase profitability, reduce production costs, pollutant emissions, energy and water consumption, introduce new and efficient technologies, improve the quality of service and customer care.People are constantly complaining of the economy in Mexico. But have you ever wonder what we are trying to do to change these problems? The government has tried a lot of things to make the micro economynot a problem; we have made companies, program, and support the little shops for example “las tienditas de la esquina”.
A lot of Mexicans have migrated to USA to have more work opportunities but doyou know that 7 of 10 jobs generated by microenterprises? Now in Mexico in commerce activities, microenterprises represent 97% of all the economic resources that our country relies on.
An example of aprogram that government has made is the National Microenterprise Program. It was made to support business men, in the first stage with training and consulting, and in a second stage with access tofinancing for equipment. Given the need to strengthen small businesses in Mexico, the Small and Medium Business, developed this program.
