Whose choice?

Today in America marijuana is a big controversy of whether we should legalize it or not. George Washington In fact,owned a hemp farm in the late 1776, he used to sell the hemp to make rope for the boats, imagine in the 1700’s for already thousands of years they had been making many more productive products from hempbecause of its cheap price. Almost 80% of all textiles, fabrics, clothes, linen, etc were being made from this so called “deadly drug”. The reason they outlawed it in the 1850’s was because the paperand cotton business was in disarray. The sale of marijuana should be legal, because it has medical use, and it would help our government.
Medical marijuana is one of the best examples we can see thatmarijuana is not bad for you. Having studies that show that marijuana in its natural form is very helpful for patience suffering of different symptoms like sclerosis, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, and otherillnesses. In 1999, the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine (IOM) reported, “Nausea, appetite loss, pain, and anxiety are all afflictions of wasting, and all can be mitigated bymarijuana.” (Mirken, Bruce). We know there are other drugs to treat patients with different kinds of diseases, but marijuana has a bigger and more affective cure in some disease. For example,‘’neuropathic pain — pain caused by damage to the nerves — often is not helped by existing drugs, but marijuana has been shown to provide effective relief.’’(Mirken, Bruce). Marijuana is just like any otherhelpful drug even though there are many drugs on the market, not all of them may help the patient. Having prescriptions like aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, etc. marijuana should be included in themtoo, because all the patients are different and they need different drugs to treat different disease.
