Legalization of drugs

The legalization of drugs would expand the use of drugs and would send a message of tolerance for drug use, especially to youth.
Some people said they should be permitted to do whatever they please,because they know the consequences of their own choices, but we are not so perfect to control our self; it is truth that each one have the authority in their body, but it is also true that we don’thave the right to do anything we want with it, I mean we just cannot walk naked in the streets, can we?. So if we cannot walk naked in the street, why you should be permitted to consume drugs that ismore harmful?
Legalizing drugs will not eliminate illegal trafficking of drugs, or violence associated with the illegal drug trade. A black market would still exist unless all the addictive substancesbecame legal to all ages.
Studies indicate that the fear of getting in trouble with the law is a big reason to not use drugs; also some studies said that countries without drugs law have had anincrease in drug addiction and crime. In Spain, in the mid-’80s, drug laws were softened, this situation cause a rise in drug abuse and became the country the major drug destination. When Switzerlandlegalized drugs in 1987 there was a 30 per cent increase in crime in major cities. That demonstrated that legalization is definitely not the answer.
Since society permits the use of substances as alcoholand nicotine, crime and addicts increase. Then the fact that these substances are legal does not mean that all of them should be legal too, clearly tobacco and alcohol are harmful. In the United Statessince legalization, alcohol is the cause of most traffic deaths, half of all murders, sexual crimes, and other violent crimes. So what are we expecting about the legalization of drugs?. It is goingto be the same situation of tobacco and alcohol.
