RESUMEN

En el mundo existe una brecha entre la demanda de alimentos (principalmente
de proteínas animales) y la oferta de los mismos,además existe una creciente
reducción de los recursos marinos debido a la sobreexplotación de los mismos. Una
de las posibilidades para disminuir la brecha existente es el cultivo del lenguado
(Paralichthys Orbignyanus) que se encuentra en estado de etapa experimental en la
Estación de Maricultura del Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Pesquero
(INIDEP) ubicado en la ciudad de MarDel Plata. Para lo cual es necesario y es el
objetivo de esta tésis: identificar y estimar los costos económicos del modulo de
engorde del cultivo y analizar las posibilidades económicas de lograr una escala piloto
comercial.
Los costos económicos se estimaron en base al método de requerimientos de
insumos para lo cual se recopilaron datos de la campaña 2005 a los que luego se le
asignó surespectivo precio a valores de octubre de 2008.
La investigación efectuada permite concluir que el ingreso medio es superior a
los costos medios variables, quedando un margen exiguo para los costos medios fijos
los que no logran cubrirse en su totalidad. Este análisis indica que existe la posibilidad
de pasar de una etapa de investigación del cultivo de lenguado a una etapa pilotocomercial.
Es importante que el INIDEP reciba apoyo para continuar con la investigación
realizada para poder avanzar a una etapa piloto comercial y de esta manera lograr la
transferencia de tecnología al sector productivo.

ABSTRACT

All over the world there is a gap betweenfood demand (mainly animal
proteins) and their offer; besides, there is an increasing reduction of marine sources
due their overexploitation. One of the possibilities to diminish the existing gap is the
cultivation of soles (Paralichthys Orbignyanus), that is now in an experimental stage
in the Mariculture Experimental Station the INIDEP, situated in Mar del Plata city.
The aim of thisthesis is to identify and estimate the economic costs of fattening the
crop module, and to analyze the economic possibilities to achieve a pilot commercial
scale.

The estimation of economic costs takes the consumable requirement method,
for this reason data from 2005 campaign were collected and then assigned their
respective price, taking into account October 2008 figures.

The currentinvestigation lets us conclude that the average incoming is
superior to average variable costs, letting a meager margin for the average fixed
costs which are not completely covered yet. This analysis points out that there is a
possibility to go from a sole crop investigation stage, to a pilot commercial one.

It is important for the INIDEP to receive support to continue with its
investigationto pass to a pilot commercial stage, and thus, to achieve the technology
transference to the productive sector.
