Why any of us want to be a great teacher?

The above question has a vast kind of answers; it depends of the person and about the mission and vision that each one hasabout teaching. For me being a great teacher requires a deep passion, a deep desire of what I want to do and how I want to do it.
Being a great teacher born at the time that I asked myself; ifteaching was one of the things that I would like to do, if I really wanted to contribute in the students’ lives, or if I just wanted to be one of the many teacher that they had had. I can’t say that I wasin love with teaching when I started the career, but I can say that I became to fall in love with teaching when I started the process in my career, when I learned from some of the greats teachersthat the UPTC has, when I started to dream in being like them, when I had experiences about teaching or practicing teaching even in front of my own classmates, as Mary Kooy said in the interview: we cancreate great teachers.
It is not an easy task, but we can work in that, as in the Estanislao zuleta’s article: Elogio de la dificultad, we have to take the challenge and be the change, takeadvantage in the difficult situation and take the obstacle as part of our learning. We can make the difference in our profession, and we can learn how to become strong and improve our weaknesses.
CindeeDavison says in the interview: teachers have to enjoy themselves, enjoy the job and teach with desire. In other words we have to love what we are doing inside the class and outside the class. TakingMary Kooy words: the first task of the teachers is to have the knowledge about their students, about the classroom about the students’ lives, not only inside, but also outside the classroom. We aregoing to be that bridge within students and their learning, we are going to be the help that they are going to look for.
