INTRODUCTION

The essence of language is to be a communication system embedded in a social situation; therefore, it is not only a cognitive process, but also a symbolic behaviour, social and genuine essential activity.
We live, in a linguistic community that feel, thinks, sees and models a tongue in terms of their language. Each community selects a partof reality, name it and introduce it in their linguistic system, as needs change, human being changes the language, either adding new elements or change the meaning and signifier-signified of a symbol.

Besides, this research is important because there is a need to understand the use of language in a local level.

The type of research is descriptive because it tries to interpret something that is represented through specific data regarding people, communities, groups etc. This investigation is developed considering the lexical variations and its meaning used by students. The sections of this research project are a rationale or justification, a researchquestion, two specific objectives, the literature review or theoretical framework and a research design so far.

RATIONALE

Today, research on language, focuses on the study of formal discourse and not on the study of the use of everyday language used by young people in common conversations. In a local level, this research helps to have a wider view of the meaning of students’ lexicalvariations used in daily situations, in a national level, it would be useful to classify the use of these words by regions, ethnic groups etc.

This research was carried out considering that language is subjected to constant changes in its use throughout time, sometimes the meanings of the words vary depending on the place where it is used and that is why this research also aims to show the differentmeanings of the use of these everyday expressions.
