Liberalism now a days and freedom

I believe that liberalism is the most fair and consistent political party for a society because of its ideal of freedom as aninviolable right for everyone, so that everyone can develop individually. Also, for its principal of equality among people in front of the law and the state.

As mentioned before, I believe thatliberalism is the best form of government for a society. Liberalism has always believed in individual freedom, however, this ideal has changed through times to get to what liberalism is nowadays. Before,liberalists believed in “negative freedom”, which meant being free from every external intervention, mostly if it came from the government or state. On the other hand, modern liberalists realized thatthis freedom may punish some individuals. This is how modern liberalism came to the idea of “positive individual freedom”, which is the freedom to accomplish one´s personal potential and developmentwith some help from the state and intervention where necessary.
Modern liberalism empowers the state in a positive way. That means that the individuals still conserve their freedom, but the state caninterfere in some ways only to help them, and has the responsibility to provide education to help people make the most of themselves. The state also guarantees by law the freedom from discrimination,freedom of speech and more. Modern liberalism wants a democratization of citizenship, which means equality in civil rights and political rights for everyone, as also equal opportunities for everyone.That is why liberalism has supported an increase in the economic and social role of the state, so that it can ensure that the law will be respected and everyone will have the same rights. However italso insists on having strong protection against the abuse of power, and greater transparency of governmental decisions.
