Coke with Mentos

COKE & MENTOS

Water molecules are strongly attracted by binding together to form a tight engagement around eachbubble of carbon dioxide gas in the soda. Reference #1

To form a new bubble, or expand a bubble that has already formed, water molecules must push and leave each other. Reference #2

In thesemolecules will cost a bit more energy to break the surface tension and when you add Mentos into the soda, the gelatin and gum arabic dissolved pad surface tension, so that the molecules are now less workexpand and form new bubbles. Reference #5

Each Mentos candy has thousands of tiny holes everywhere called nucleation sites and are great places for bubbles of carbon dioxide form. Reference #3

Assoon as the Mentos drop into the soda, bubbles appear all over the surface of the candy. Reference #4

The fact that the mentos candies are heavy and sink to the bottom of the bottle and have a doublereaction. In forming many bubbles literally push the liquid out of the bottle in an incredible burst. Book #1

This burst will demonstrate what of the two kinds of coke react more with the mentosand if the sugar is the principal factor of that reaction.

State the problem

Problem:
We want to know why the mentos react more with diet coke than normal coke, and what substances causes thisreaction. We know that it will react but we want to know why the mentos react with the coke

Independent variable: mentos
Dependent variable: the coke reaction
Controlled experiment: The bottleswere of 600ml and we put them 4 mentos in each one
Control group: coke without mentos
Experimental group: Diet and normal coke with mentos

We observed the reaction between Mentos with Coke....
