Lima and Cusco are interesting, exciting, and beautiful places. Despite the fact of these cities are located in the same country, they do not have the same qualities. Lima issituated in an arid zone whereas Cusco is located in fertile inter-Andean valleys with impressive mountains. They represent different cultures, but at the same time, they are two important parts ofPeru. Lima and Cusco have a lot of differences in many aspects; still, a few similarities are shared.

Lima is dissimilar to Cusco in many aspects. The first difference is the geographic location.Unlike Lima, which is located in the West of Peru near sea level, Cusco is located in the Southeast of Peru to more than 3000 m.a.s.l. Besides, Lima differs from Cusco because Lima has a big coastline. That is what generates the second difference they have, which is the weather. While Lima’s weather is very humid, Cusco’s weather is dry and cold. The third dissimilitude between these cities isthe customs. Cusco is different from Lima, for Cusco has many customs that have been passed from one generation to another throughout the years. Today's weavers carry on the traditions that originatedin Inca times or even earlier. For example, one of the most important customs it has is the Inti Raymi Festival which honors the winter solstice and the mighty god Inti. Another thing Lima and Cuscodo not share is the architecture. Lima developed beautiful Colonial architecture; on the other hand, Cusco developed the amazing Inca architecture. Nowadays, the Lima's historic square is home to avariety of architectural styles, from colonial to modern.
Although Lima and Cusco seem very different, both of them are alike in a few things. One of the similarities is the etymology.
