Literary Analysis : "The Minister´s Black Veil"
The reaction of Hooper´s paritioners towards his veil could show the reader that the auditioners had inner fears and that they felt exposed or affected by Hooper´s veil inseveral ways. At first it showed how hypocrite the puritans were, and how they had prejudices about people when they start asking why is Mr. Hooper is even using that veil and acting like if just becauseof wearing that veil made him a different person, in this case a bad or dark person when they say : "But what has good Parson Hooper got upon his face?" "Are you sure it is our parson?" and speciallytheir prejudice is noticed when they say "I can't really feel as if good Mr. Hooper's face was behind that piece of crape," like saying that he is good just because wearing that veil. And then thepeople started to think that he was hiding his face because of something bad he had just made a really bad thing, when Elizabeth tells to Mr. Hooper that the congregation may think about the veil as away to hide himself of a sin : "Beloved and respected as you are, there may be whispers that you hide your face under the consciousness of secret sin”. Thinking that about a minister made them havefear about themselves, fear to have their sins discovered because the veil show that, that everyone had hidden secrets. Because of it people start to dislike Mr. Hooper though they didn’t miss hissermons, and he even started to attract more people to hear him, because everyone knew he was right about it. Then they realized that everyone has a secret sin and started to have fear about themselves,tor not really about it , but that everyone knew that each of them has committed sins that hasn’t been told to anybody and if even a minister did so they might had feelings of self guilt , that theirconscience made them remember what they have done and maybe they just liked the way it was before, each one with their secrets, but with Mr. Hooper´s veil their conscience started to act over them ,...
