1. GENERAL INFORMATION
So as you all know, Ljubljana has been the capital of Slovenia since its foundation. The city extends on area of approximately 160 km2 and has the population of approximately 280.00. It is a popular tourist destination and in 2011 was visited by more than 420.000 tourists. It is said that if one comes into Ljubljana he might want to stay here forever.
1. LJUBLJANA ANDOTHER SLOVENIAN CITIES:
If we compare living in Ljubljana with living in other Slovenian cities everybody should agree both sides have theirs advantages and disadvantages

One of the major disadvantages of Ljubljana is that it is so expensive. As a capital and highly visited tourist place Ljubljana (especially the downtown) has high prices in bars and restaurants.

Also the prices of realestate are very high, although these have been decsreasing in last few years due to the economic crises. But Ljubljana is still the second most expensive region to buy an apartment in. The average prices for a square meter for an apartment are about 2300€ which is twice as much as in Maribor or in Celje. In 2011 if you wanted to buy an 30 years old apartment in Ljubljana, 50m2 big you would haveto pay around 120.000€ which is around 120 average monthly salaries in RS. To buy the apartment of the same quality in Maribor or Celje you would need only 5 average monthly salaries!
* Ok, let's say that you own a real estate in Ljubljana. You still have to pay for utility services and prices for these are growing from year to year. The prices which increased the most in the last few yearsare the ones of gas and of the drainage of the water due to biological cleaning of wastewater.
The other field where the prices have also increased is public transportation. Three years ago one ride with a public bus coasted 0,8€ and now is 1,2€. Also the price which students have to pay to get monthly ticket for public transportn has increased in the last few years. If we look 8 years back theprice was 3600SIT (15€) and it was changed in 2007 to 17€. This price had remained the same until this school year when it has increased to 20€.
And if you want to go to the town with your own car, firstly you would have a trouble finding a parking space and secondly you would have to pay 20% more for an hour of parking than you had to pay in 2010. Also the number of free parking spots hasdecreased: since 2006 around 250 parking meters were built.

Nevertheless, Ljubljana is also the city of possibilities as it offers many different things to do-it doesn’t matter if you are a sport type or more of an indoor guy who wants to learn some language, in Ljubljana each person finds something for itself to do. Besides that it is also a university town as it has the best university in Sloveniawhich is also among the top 3% universities in the world. This is the reason in Ljubljana has quite a lot of students-33.354.
Besides offering many different courses and studies Ljubljana also offers a job to many. In the municipality of Ljubljana there are around 250.000 job places. It is true that there are less and less jobs every year but we cannot claim that in any other part of Sloveniathe situation is any better. Besides that, average salaries in Ljubljana are pretty high if we compare them to the salaries in other parts of Slovenia, so from the view of jobs places and salaries, Ljubljana is a good place to live in.
Of course, the fact that it offers a job to many has its consequences. Every morning Ljubljana gets over floated with people who drive to their job from othertowns. The number of people who immigrate here is around 100.000 of which 90% comes with their own car. Even the 63%residents of Ljubljana come to their job with car; only 21% uses the public transportation. That leads to traffic jams, noise and the most important - to the pollution.
I did a research of some environmental issues of Ljubljana and discovered that road traffic is one of the biggest...
