Chiapas.
Location.
It is the southernmost State of Mexico, located in the Southwestern Mexico. Chiapas is bordered by the states of Tabasco to the north, Veracruz to the northwest, and Oaxaca tothe west. To the east Chiapas borders Guatemala, and to the south the Pacific Ocean, Chiapas has an area of about 73,289 km2
Demographics.
The state’s population is about 55% Mestizo, and 40%Indigenous, mostly of Maya ancestry. Around 35% of the indigenous population does not speak Spanish as a first language.
In the textiles of Chiapas, the Maya concepts of time, space, and themythological forces of nature are interwoven. Through repeated cycles of birth and decline, conquest and revival, weaving has preserved the design of the Maya universe.

Feria de San Sebastian in the month of January.

Feasts of the Lord of Tila in the month of March.
Festival Cervantes Baroque in the month ofOctober.
Maya-Zoque Festival in the month of November.
REGIONAL COSTUMES
• The women wear blouses with short sleeves and blanket embroidered skirts up to their necks and bright satin full ofplanks that patiently sewn and decorated with lace and ribbons of color.

The Lacandon.
They live a simple white robe, but also wear a ceremonial tunic, whose fabric is made from wood pulp,decorated with astronomical symbols
The Tenejapa.
• The blouse is woven mayan patterns, like the shawl, black wool. The shorts and the tightening of the men are embroidered on the edges. These garmentsare similar to those used by indigenous Chamula and Magdalena.
• The women wear traditional dress in Tenejapa. In everyday life, women and girls do not use their best blouses, which are red andwhite.
