Looking For Alaska
The story of a platonic love, that ends with the answer of how to escape the labyrinth. It teaches life lessons and how one person can change your world. It’s about the last wordsand how much they mean to one. It’s about not being a snitch and how to end suffering. It tells the story of a group of teenagers growing together and finding themselves. “Looking for Alaska” is abook that will show you how your life can end in a nanosecond and that people’s death even though they seem your fault, they really aren’t.
We meet Miles Halter, who is at his parents’ home in Floridaeagerly waiting to leave and go to his first year at a boarding school. When his parents ask him why he decided to go to Culver Creek after two years at a public high school, the only way he canthink to explain it to them is to quote the last words of poet François Rabelais: “I go to seek a Great Perhaps”. Miles is a fan of last words and that’s the only thing he has since he’s not very socialand unpopular. He arrives at the boarding school and finds out it’s not as great as he thought. He meets his roommate, Chip who becomes his first best friend and helps him become more independent.Chip introduces Miles to the gorgeous, self-destructive, and screwed-up Alaska Young. His first night, Miles gets pranked by the weekday warriors, a gang of rich kids. To get back they spent thenight in a barn drinking and planning for a night of adventure. Miles would lure the Principal out of his house by setting off fireworks while Alaska and Chip changed grades and add blue die to thebully’s hair gel. The prank was a success but that night Alaska, Chip, and Miles are drinking away their troubles when Alaska mysteriously starts crying and leaves the premises.
The next day, Miles and Chipare told the news that Alaska had died in a car crash that night. As soon as this happens the book turns from a coming-of-age story to a depressive death. They both find out she went straight into...
