Charlie Gordon, is a 37 old man that once he was intelligent. But not any more. Charlie has been chosen by Dr. Nemur toparticipate in an experiment. But first he have to participate on a test that consist on making a story with images that a woman would show to him. He denied to do it. He said that his cant describepeople he didnt know. And that he wont tell lies. So he didnt do it. Know he would try to do the experiment without preparation. An experiment that suposely would help him be how he was in the past. Dr.Nemur at first dont feel very shure if he want to make the experiment with Charlie, but Dr. Strauss convince him by telling Dr. Nemur good qualities about Charlie. When Charlie hear Dr. Nemur sayingyes about would they do the experiment or not, he was so excited and thankful. Dr. Strauss have obligate Charlie to do thing that he didnt like. Such as sleeping with the T.V on, writting everyactivity he does daily etc. He have to follow orders for the operation can be done succesfuly.
I thing Charlie is a good guy. Although he isnt smart he know what he wants, he know how he want to be, hewant to be smart. Like his friends. I like what the author is trying to say with this, he try to explain is no always the way we want it to be. I feel that Charlie is very creative when hi plays withthe algernon, he may be a “not intelligent person” but although he find a way to have fun with something he is obligated to use.
People with such this problems of concentration or intelligencealways teach us, the intelligent and normal people, something in life. Charlie teach us perseverance, because although he knows it was hard for him to be smart or to correct the gramatical errors, to learnhow to read a book with punctuation marks, to learn how to use them. He tried the best he can, maybe the operation dont go out the way they hope to be, but he realise that and have a good point of...
