The American dream

What is the American dream? My definition of the American dream is to strive to be the best that you can be. I do not believe that having a big house and aFerrari in your driveway makes the American dream complete, but obtaining happiness to better yourself in ways that relate to one’s previous difficulties is. Many people from all over the World havecome to this country to obtain The American Dream, and many of them did not realize that it’s not guaranteed. The chance of attaining this vision is highly slim. America, like other countries, has poorliving conditions, low wage jobs, and few resources available to help with pursuing the American Dream.
Looking back at our history, many who came to American came for many of the same reasons.Political freedom, religious freedom, and poverty in their home countries made them to turn to “The Land of Opportunity” for a new start. John Truslow Adams defined his believe of The American Dream as“But there has been also the American dream, that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for every man, with opportunity for each according to his ability or achievement. Itis a difficult dream for the European upper classes to interpret adequately, and too many of us ourselves have grown weary and mistrustful of it. It is not a dream of motor cars and high wagesmerely, but a dream of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature of which they are innately capable, and be recognized by others for what they are,regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position” (1931, Epic of America).
The phrase above is intense has a powerful meaning to it. John Adams knew that this dream is misinterpreted by manypeople. Like I said earlier in this paper the American dream is more of an opportunity than a guaranteed. It does not mean that one will leave their country and come to paradise in America....
