Efforts to curb E. coli
Illness acquired because of E coli usually disappears in a week approximately and doesn´t cause any long-term problems and it is really important to remain hydrated and withproper food while sick.
Doctors never use antibiotics for treating E coli ´cause it doesn´t improve illness but also can increase the risk of HUS.
HUS is treated by hospitalization. Since there isno way to directly cure HUS, treatment includes care to alleviate symptoms.
For prevent E. coli we have to:
* Wash hands thoroughly before and after eating and after going to the bathroom
*Sanitize all fruits and vegetables before eating by skinning them if possible and washing them before eating
* Check with your local department of health to find out which restaurants in your areahave had recent problems with sanitation
* Avoid allowing raw meats to come into contact with other foods while cooking
* Do not allow children to share bath water with anyone who has diarrheaor symptoms of stomach flu
* Wash hands thoroughly after any contact with farm animals
* Wear disposable gloves when changing diapers of children with diarrhea
* Make sure ground meat(such as hamburger patties) reaches an internal temperature of at least 160°F
* Avoid drinking any non-chlorinated water

There might be a change in the way USDA is inspecting. There also might be achange in the bug itself. E .coli may be evolving past the systems that the industry had developed to get rid of them. Most importantly, many of the best practices for controlling E.coli are notrequired by the U.S. government.
