Course Grading Criteria:

1) Thiscourse will require that the students write two (2) essays (4-5 pages each) on a variety of topics across multiple genres. Each essay will be evaluated on a grade scale equal to 10% of youroverall grade. All essays will require a cover sheet, outline, and a works cited page if necessary.

2) There will be two (2) in-class quizzes related to your assigned readings.Each essay will be worth 10 points.

3) A 7-10 page research paper equal to 40% of the overall grade will be required of each student. This documents will be scored the in the samefashion as the essays.

(2) Essays: 40 pts.
(1) Research Paper: 40 pts.
(2) In-class essays/quizzes: 20 pts.====================================================================
Total points: ` 100 pts.

Notes:
1. To pass this class students must receive an overall grade of “C” or higher.

2. Late work is notaccepted in this class for any reason.

3. If you deliver an essay that is late, you will receive an automatic “F” for that assignment. An “F” can range from “0” points to 64.99points.

4. An “F” for a document that is not handed in or is late means “0” points (F).

5. Be aware that grammar counts. Each spelling error, punctuation missing or incorrect,etc., will lower your essay score exponentially.

Notes:
Final grades will be determined utilizing the following point scale:

A = 90-100 C = 70-79.99
B = 80-89.99 D= 65-69.99
F = Up to 64.99

Note: Any student who fails to turn in a written essay will automatically fail this course with a zero (“0”). There are no exceptions to this rule.
