Los Angeles is the city most populated and extensive of the State of California and the second in the United States in amount of habitantes. way callabbreviated l. a., the metropolitan area of Los Angeles, concentrated in five counties has an estimated 17.7 million habitantes. Los Angeles is the eponymous County County.
History
Founded in 1781by Spanish Governor Felipe de Neve as El Pueblo of our Lady the Queen of the angels of Porziuncola. In 1821 he became part of Mexico after Spain, and later United States independence in 1848 afterAmerican intervention in Mexico. It was incorporated as a city on April 4, 1850 - five months before California get State.
Flora
Los Angeles area is rich in species of native plants, partly dueto its diversity of habitats, including beaches, marshes and mountains. The most common botanical environment is coastal scrub, which covers the hillsides. Some names of native plants are: Californiapoppy (Eschscholzia californica), poppy matilija (Romneya Harvey), toyon (Heteromeles arbutifolia), coastal oak (Quercus agrifolia) and giant wild rye (Secale cereale). Many of these species, such asthe Ángeles(Helianthus_nuttallii), sunflower are so scarce that they have been considered in danger of extinction. Although it is not native to the area, the official flower of the town is theso-called bird of paradise

The city is divided in many neighborhoods, many of whom were villages annexed by the growth of the city. There are several independent cities around Los Angeles,which are considered part of it due to its proximity. Generally, the city is divided into the following areas: downtown, East Los Angeles, not to be confused with East L.A. is an unincorporated communityin Los Angeles County, South of Los Angeles, port, Hollywood, Wilshire, West Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley, Valley of Santa Clarita and Antelope Valley.
