Missionaries of Charity

Life, which defines this word? For science is a station between birth and death and has a process of evolution. For Christians, life is a step that leads thesoul from the eternal absence to the fullness, in a period of time. It is the breath of God to the man. All my life I have belonged to the Catholic Church. And I’ve always admired all the saints andblessed people of our church. One of them is our Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
This luminous messenger of God’s love was born on August 26, 1910 in Skopje. At the age of eighteen, moved by the desireto become a missionary, left home in September 1928 and join to the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, known as the Sisters of Loreto in Ireland. She began teaching at St. Mary School and in 1944was named director of the educational center. Being a person of deep prayer and intense love for her religious sisters and students, Mother Teresa spent twenty years in Loreto.
On September 10, 1946while traveling by train from Calcutta to Darjeeling for her annual retreat, Mother Teresa received her "inspiration." That day, in a way she never explain, the thirst for love and souls of Jesus tookhold of her heart and desire to satisfy her thirst. This became the driving force in her life. During the following weeks and months, through interior locutions and visions, Jesus revealed the desireof His heart for "victims of love" who would "radiate His love on souls." "Come be My light," He asked, "I can go alone." He revealed His pain at the neglect of the poor, His sorrow at the ignoranceof those who do not know, and Jesus' desire to be loved by them. He asked Mother Teresa to establish a religious community, Missionaries of Charity, dedicated to serving the poorest of the poor....
