I first decided to visit Mr. Penguin. He said that I first had to learn that statements, abbreviations, and imperative sentences use periods. Also that questions use question marks and exclamationsuse exclamation points. At the start, I didn’t fully understand, but practice helped me improve. As I practiced I wrote down the following: Yikes!
I love basketball. How are you Mr. Penguin? Giveme the ball.

On my next stop, I went to the mysterious witch. She taught me the art of using commas. She said that commas are used in the following: when you are repeating a series of things, whenyou are introducing an element, when you are using more than two adjectives, and before and, but, for, or, and yet to join an independent clause. I then practiced by writing the following: Well, Iwanted to play soccer, basketball, and hockey, but the unpredictable, annoying rainy season didn’t let me.

Afterwards I decided to meet up with my guardian angel. She explained that semicolons are usedbetween independent clauses and items in a series if there are commas. I then went around town and found many examples. One was: John Willis will play today; everybody should come see him on Saturday,April 1st; Monday, June 16; and Saturday, July 15. My guardian angel said that colons are important. They introduce lists, formal statements; and are used for the hour and minute. I then quicklyremembered that my alarm clock read like this: 7:30 and that when I become a basketball star people would write, Joe Johnson: professional player. I also remembered how my mom makes a shopping list likethis: bagels, onions, garlic.

The next day, I went to meet Dr. Obama. He wrote: dog, candy, toy story, toccata fugue, summer, wind. After that he told me to pick out the words in italics. He thenexplained that those words have italics because they are either foreign or they are the title for a book, movie, etc. later on, he showed me how to use quotation marks to enclose direct quotations, how...
