Analysis on the works of Martin Luther.

20. Therefore by "full remission of all penalties" the pope means not actually "of all," but only of those imposed by himself.
Martin Luther tells us bythe means of this sentence that the “forgiveness” the church sold, could only free you from the sins the pope himself had imposed on you, and not from all of your committed sins. In addition this isbecause during that period of time, the pope told everybody which actions, thoughts, believes etc. were considered to be a sin, and therefore people had no choice but to believe in it. Consequentlywhen the church began to sell the assurance of heaven, the people would believe in it because from the beginning they were taught that what the pope said was true, and therefore bought it. Unfortunatelywhat this meant was that the pope forgave you from the sins he had said you did, nevertheless it did not mean that god forgave you, and especially that you would be allowed into heaven just becauseyou paid the pope.

46. Christians are to be taught that unless they have more than they need, they are bound to keep back what is necessary for their own families, and by no means to squander it onpardons.
In this sentence we can observe how Martin Luther speaks against the decisions of the Church. In other words Martin Luther says that the money gained should be used for food, shelter andother needs that your family might have, and not to gain the forgiveness of the pope. In addition I think that this text is very assertive; because of the fact that the pope, although considered tointerpret gods will, does not really “communicate” with god itself, and therefore can’t really know if god would really forgive the people just because they gave money to the church. Finally I can tellthat this sentence was written basically in order to make people from think and realize wether or not it was really worth giving their money to the church.
