* The first part about an example is often a deceptive mirror I think is related with the relationship between Ying-ying and Lena, herdaughter because Ying-ying became a ghost and the same thing is happening with her daughter. She is allowing her husband to do whatever he wants with her, she is not having thecontrol of her own life. I have related the second part of the quote with her obsession about the destiny and let it go without do anything to change it. So the quote says that the destinyis not always found written in things past, and this means to me that you can change your own destiny if you want, you can create your own destiny. A person shouldn’t live the life likeYing-ying did.
* I think Ying-ying would like this quote because is about what she couldn’t do in her past life, she waited for the storms to pass. But now I believe she islearning how to dance in the rain because she is trying to help her daughter to get out of her current life which is not how it should be.

I chose these four songs(Paradise-Coldplay, Fix You-Coldplay, A Thousand Years-Christina Perri, and Bubbly-Colbie Caillat) because the rhythm of them is quiet and sad, and I think this represents how Ying-ying’s life isand how she is. She has allowed everyone decide for her and put words in her mouth, words she hasn’t said. She has realized about her mistake so late, when she has to tell her story toher daughter.
Symbol:
I chose the symbol of Ying-ying’s birth year because I have noticed that the year you born is really important to Chinese people. But it is odd because Idon’t think the description of her symbol is a good one to Ying-ying, because she is more like passive and she let the life go. China is an important part of her, so her symbol too.
