Mariano Jose Larra
(Madrid, 1809-Id., 1837) Spanish writer. His family had to move to Bordeaux with the expulsion of Napoleon's troops in 1813, he was suspicious of French influence, given the post of military surgeon in the service of Joseph Bonaparte who had servedhis father. Thanks to the amnesty granted by Fernando VII in 1818, the family returned to Madrid, and his father became personal physician to the king's brother Fernando.

Larra studied medicine in Madrid, but failed to finish the race, in 1825 he moved to Valladolid to pursue law studies continued in Valencia. Apparently, by this time he fell in love with a woman who turned out to be the lover ofhis father, which was an ordeal for him.

The years I lived in France may be at the origin of his steely critically with the reality of Spain, his articles have appeared on a brochure satirical monthly El Duende Day and signed with the pseudonym "Goblin" he reported early fame as a journalist. Gustavo Adolfo Domínguez

(Gustavo Adolfo Domínguez Bastida, Sevilla, 1836-Madrid, 1870) Spanish poet. Son and brother of painters, was orphaned at age ten and spent his childhood and adolescence inSeville, where he studied humanities and painting.
In 1854 he moved to Madrid, with the intention of making literary career. However, the success did not smile, his ambitious project of writing a history of the temples of Spain was a failure, and only managed to publish a volume, years later. To live there to journalism and make adaptations of plays abroad, mostly French, in collaboration withhis friend Luis Garcia Luna, both adopting the pseudonym "Adolfo Garcia."
During a stay in Seville in 1858, spent nine months in bed because of an illness was probably tuberculosis, although some biographers opt for syphilis. During convalescence, where he was cared for by his brother Valeriano, published his first legend, the leader of the red hands, and met Julia Espin, according to some criticsthe muse of some of his rhymes, but for a long time it was believed erroneously it was Elisa Guillén, whom the poet had maintained relations until she left in 1860, and have inspired the poet's bitter compositions.
