Function Points

Analysis based on:
• Internal logical file (ILF): e.g. each entity in a entity-relationship diagram
• External interface file (EIF): e.g. similar to ILF but maintained byanother app system
• External input (EI): e.g. screens to input information. Insertions, updates and deletions are performed.
• External output (EO): e.g. reports, calculated totals, charts. No inputdata is given from the outside.
• External inquiry (EQ): combination of inputs and outputs for retrieving data. No changes are performed to the data in files. Examples include queries which involveinput data from a screen and a result of the query showed on the screen.

Complexity Matrices
Record element types (RET).- subgroups of data elements contained within an ILF or EIF.
