Introduction
Every day, around the clock, people who work in the healthcare industry provide care for millions of people, from newborns to the very ill. In fact, the health careindustry is one of largest providers of jobs in the United States. Many health jobs are in hospitals. Others are in nursing homes, doctors' offices, dentists' offices, outpatient clinics andlaboratories.
To work in a health occupation, you often must have special training. Some, like doctors, must have more than 4 years of college.

Jobs in the medical professions are collectively called the healthcare industry and can vary greatly in their description. Doctors, anesthesiologists, nurses and therapists make up thecore group of people that provide care at health facilities, but front-desk personnel, record keepers, practical nurses and housekeepers are also a significant minority of people working in thisindustry.

JOB DUTIES
The job responsibilities of medical professionals are vast. Caretakers, like doctors and nurses, work directly with patients to heal maladies, ease pain and provide preventative care.This can include physical examinations, radiology work, administering medicine or injections and long-term care in a hospital or out-patient facility. Also, non-professional caretakers like practicalnurses and ambulance workers work directly with patients in different capacities, taking vital signs, monitoring conditions and reporting directly to doctors and nurses.
