A landslide at a mine in the Chilean city of Copiapo, 834 kilometers north of the capital, has left at least 34 trapped workers which status is unknown. Theaccident occurred yesterday at 20.30 local time (02.30 CET Spanish Friday) in the 300 level of the mine San Esteban dedicated to the exploitation of gold andcopper.
As reported by El Mercurio of Chile, the engineer in charge of the maneuvers, André Sougarret, unveiled the plan that will takeplace in the next few days to finalize the rescue of 33 workers, but said that the rescue could last up to four months .
