We chose this book cause both of us love it, it’s a beautiful story.
Memoirs of a geisha is a narration of the life of Nitta Sayuri as a geisha. When you reed this book you enter in a new world thatmaybe you didn’t know, where a girls virginity is paid with bigs amounts of money, where woman are trained to seduce the most powerful men, and where love is just an illusion. Sayuri's story beginsin a poor fishing village in 1929, when, as a nine-year-old with unusual blue-gray eyes, she is taken from her home and sold into slavery to a geishas house. we witness her transformation as she learnsthe rigorous arts of the geisha: dance and music; wearing kimono, elaborate makeup and hair; pouring sake to reveal just a touch of inner wrist; competing with a jealous rival for men's solicitudeand the money that goes with it. But as World War II erupts and the geisha houses are forced to close, Sayuri, with little money and even less food, must reinvent herself all over again to find a rarekind of freedom on her own terms.

After the end of the war, Nobu visits Sayuri and asks that she return to Gion to help entertain Deputy Minister Sato, who canhelp to restart the Chairman and Nobu's company
Once returned to Gion, Sayuri seeks the help of Mameha and Pumpkin to entertain the Deputy Minister. The three females become geishas once more, andSayuri reunites with the Chairman
