Mexican culture
Mexican Culture is a much close culture; I could say that Mexican Culture resides on family. Mexican families are an important cell in society, it is made by united members, the great majority it for a religious bond, although there are families with women as the head of the family, however they are all blood bonded and respect bonds. The father and mother is the main base ofMexican families as well as children, grandparents, uncles and cousins that give a special characteristic to Mexican families. Within the rural Mexican societies grandparents live in the same roof with their children and grandsons, everyone helping each other and with respect for the elderly, if they don’t live under the same roof they live very close to their relatives, Mexican families do notlose touch with their relatives during their life, it is all a help cell, it is common that elderly take care of their grandsons and it is not weird that the elderly work their lands, despite their age.
It is a main characteristic of Mexican families to give their relatives their blessing and approval when someone is going for a long or short journey, the younger ones request the blessing of theirparents for approval and good luck in their journeys. Nicknames are given to the grandparents, like tata that means parents, the nickname could change depending the town or city.
Sundays are very important for mexican families, the families meet and show ethuisiasm and joy of being together. According to their income, the families after going to church go out to the country to make picnics,they take beer, tequila, tortillas, charboil, meat, salsas, chairs, tables, even more they take their pets such as dogs. The places can be near a river, the Woods, a flat green land a mountain, any place is good for the family to get together, this gives a break of all the work made by those who support the family. Joy and family are the main ingredients of Sundays.
Although nowadays its commonfor women to bring income to the family and therefore have a job, the Mexican costume is that women take care of the children education, cooking, ironing, taking care of the house, the machismo is still present in Mexican culture, however the man can take care of the children and house as well, man have to spend some of their time supervising children chores according to their spare time. Isbecause of this and it is true that women or mothers in the Mexican families are the heart of the family, their love many times can be showed by sacrifice in order to live a decent life, many cases help to show how women don’t mind to have double shifts, having a job and at the same time taking care and supporting their homes.
Humor is an important part of Mexican daily life, double sense words isvery common among Mexican men, double sense is and can be used in almost every scenario or situation like work time or rest time, even among men and women, usually women do not understand most of the time the double sense, it is most of the time related with sex, and it can be gross however hilarious for men.
Moreover there’s one special day when Mexicans make funny rhymes for their deadrelatives, it is called Dia de Muertos, this day it is common to go to graveyards to visit our dead love ones and leave flowers and the rhymes. Rhymes are made according to their way they lived in an exaggerated funny way. Every occasion is good to make a joke, even among strangers; it is commonly used to break the ice, and also to conquer women. Humor is very important for the less fortunate, it iseasier for them to bear their way of living and raw jobs, and it helps them get through the week and sorrows.
