Book Review: Young Samurai: The Way of the Worrier
The book Young Samurai: The Way of the Worrier takes place in the early 1600s in Japan. To bemore specifically Kyoto, a province in Japan, is where the story takes place and during this time Japan was a country of samurais. Jack Fletcher isour main character. He is an English twelve year old boy while Akiko our other character is a Japanese girl. Masamoto and Yamato are father and son andMasamoto is a very powerful samurai. During a trip at sea, Jack and the ship he is in, are pushed to coast forcefully by a storm and then wereattacked by ninjas, Jack was the only survivor. Masamoto was the one who saved Jack and adopted him. Jack is then ordered to learn Japanese and is sent toa samurai school along with Akiko and Yamato. Jack now not only needs to learn how to be a samurai but also needs to protect his father’s rutter, ajournal that contains secrets of the sea, from a ninja named Dragon Eye.
I seriously would recommend everyone to read this book. It has a reallygood plot. It’s amazing with its genre being historical fiction. It has amazing characters as well; Jack is truly a person with great courage anddetermination. The book is full of action and a lot of twists too. The fighting it has is not like any fighting done in the streets, these ones have moreto it. The book is really for any age and everyone would enjoy it, but mostly young people. Young Samurai is so well written it should become a movie.
