After watching the movie “Freedom Writers” answer the following questions:


1. At the beginning of the movie, why do you think Eva’s father gave her boxing gloves?

•I think Eva’s father gave her boxing gloves to defend herself when she was older. From that action I can say that maybe Eva’s father gave one to him.

2. What matter most in Long Beach? For whatthey fight for each other?

• The most that mattered in Long Beach was the race, respect and territory. They fighted for their people, their respect and to gain more territory.

3. What washappening between the students when they first went to their English classroom?

• When the students first went to the classroom they were separated by the gangs and race. They turned their chairstowards their gang members. The classroom was completely segregated.

4. What Ms. Gruwell witnessed in the school riot?

• Ms. Gruwell saw the gangs fighting with each others. They werefighting against their opposite race or skin color. Also, Ms. Gruwell saw a student that almost took a gun out of his pants.

5. Explain what happened in the grocery store.


• A guy was playinga videogame and he lost in the game. He was very mad and went out of the store. Outside was Paco ready to shoot him; he shooted but the guy escaped from the bullets.

6. What was the reaction of theother teacher when Ms. Gruwell told about the diary of Anne Frank to her students?

• The other teachers thought she was crazy because those students didn’t have interest in learning. Also,that they didn’t have the capacity to read that difficulty.

7. Describe one of the stories from the diary Ms. Gruwell first read.

• One of their stories was that one man killed her mother inher face and she could not do anything. Another one was that one friend of Marcus, when he was kid, he showed him a gun but accidentally his friend shot himself. Marcus went to jail because people...
