“Bowling for Columbine”, a film by Michael Moore is a very confusing documentary full of incoherent events and many other things that just confuse its viewers.
Moore tries to bring some important points to the spotlight of American culture, however,
by him controlling different things in this movie, it makes it hard for me to totally agree with what he has to say. The main purpose of thisfilm is to persuade American people to change their ideas about guns and to demonstrate the impact that this issue has had in America for a very long time.

First of all, this documentary is about how guns have been a bad influence, not only to all of the countries, but especially to America. And how it disturbs people minds, rather than providing safety, which is supposed tobe the real reason behind the possession of a gun being legalized. Michael Moore produced this film to show his point on why guns should never be sold again. He travels to different places with many people and everyone seems to have a different answer to his question, which is, “Why are there so many gun deaths annually in the United States?” Some people blame the past of the United States. Theysay that Americans have always been very violent, so according to them, violence runs through every American’s veins. Other people blame the type of music that teenagers listen to. The two teenagers that were responsible for the Columbine High School massacre listened to Marilyn Manson. After this massacre, everyone started to say that they had killed and they had planned everything because of theinfluence that Marilyn Manson’s music had in them. Some people even blame violent TV shows, but in Moore’s opinion, that is illogical as blaming bowling for causing deaths of so many people. On the contrary, I do believe that media has a great impact on people behavior. When people hear about things in songs, or see things in movies or on television, it does has an effect on them. A lot of moviesshow violence, and most of the teenagers think that it is cool to do what they are doing, so they follow their steps. Television in home is one of the greatest sources of visual violence for children, such a video games, it exposes young children to a level of violence that we could have never imagine.

Eventually, Michael Moore explores the darkest side of America, thesociety built on fear. It appears that Americans have lost perspective, not noticing the real dangers of life. In this film, Moore discusses with various people, including musician Marilyn Manson, the National Rifle Association’s then-president Charlton Hesston, and South Park co-creator Matt Stone. He seeks to explain why the United Stated has a higher number of violent crimes, especially crimesinvolving guns, and why the occurrence of violent crimes in the U.S is relatively higher than other developed nations.
We can also appreciate how this film satirizes American society. The kind of satire that Moore uses in this documentary is obviously juvenalian satire. Even though, this film includes some type of humor, the strong scenes like the ones were people are getting killed and all of thefootage of the Columbine High School massacre and its consequences makes me think that this documentary is using juvenalian satire.

Although Michael Moore uses many different types of methods to attract and keep the viewers attention, they are not all effective. The use of juvenalian satire can grab some person’s attention, but it may be very disturbing for people whodon’t like to see other people getting hurt or much worse, getting killed. However, something that Moore used in this documentary to get everyone’s attention that did work was the use of pathos, logos, and ethos. Moore uses pathos, which is an emotional appeal through humor, anger, and sadness. He uses a great deal of humor. The viewer can’t finish the movie without laughing out loud. He does this...
