HISTORY

The XXX Olympic Games will be held from 27 July to 12 August 2012 in the city of London, UK. This will be the first city to host the Olympics three times, having played host in 1908 and 1948 respectively.
After the bid led by former Olympic champion Sebastian Coe and the Mayor of London KenLivingstone, London was chosen as the host city on July 6, 2005 during the 117th IOC Session in Singapore, defeating Moscow, New York, Madrid and Paris.

THE LOGO

This is the logo of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Designed by Wolff Ollins. The same is something modern and new in what they are Olympic logos if we see above, but has some disadvantages to be printed because it has very tiny letters incolorful patches, which will not notice much.




THE SYMBOL

The Olympic symbol consists of five rings represent the five continents of the world: Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania. Are intertwined to symbolize the friendship of all peoples sport.

They are called Winlockand Mandeville, supposedly these two dolls representing the last drops of steel left over from building the Olympic Stadium and say it is intended to bring a little children to Olympic sports.

Nine cities applied for the 2012 Olympics. 1 to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The Committee shortlisted five of these, London, Madrid, Moscow,New York and Paris, among which was that London was victorious. London will be the first city that hosts the Olympic Games for the third time, following those held in 1908 and 1948. The selection process to host the 2012 Olympics was considered one of the most competitive in history had the IOC. Paris was the application which was for most of the season with the role of favorite, but the lobbyingthat made supporters of London in recent times was a decisive factor for success of the application. Madrid was named one of the favorites, but the city did not receive enough votes to surpass Paris and London.


TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

Certainly in London there are a variety of attractions to see and visit during your stay. Among the main attractions are: The Tower of London, Big Ben,Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, St Paul's Cathedral, Hyde Park, Windsor Castle, Madame Tussauds Museum, Cathedral Westminster and Trafalgar Square.
London is also a good place for shopping. Harrod's is an emblem of the city, and main fashion stores internationally known as Dolce and Gabbana, Coco Chanel, Carolina Herrera among others are also found in these neighborhoods(Knightsbridge and Bond Street), for those seeking the visit the street markets Soho, Camden Town and Covent Garden.
