Este ensayoanaliza la evolución e historia de la emigración de los potosinos, hacia el país vecino de Estados unidos en las décadas de 1920-1940, indicando las causas, primero de la emigración y segundo: de la repatriación a mediados de la década de 1930, así como las ocupaciones y los tratos que recibieron los potosinos en su intención de bienestar y progreso.
