Reading or Listening Portfolio

Depending on your personal needs, you will be either reading or listening to supplemental material in English on a weekly basis tostrengthen your skills. You will select the material you wish to listen to or read from a list of approved sources below.

For your weekly listening or reading assignment, you will turn in (1) a summaryand (2) new vocabulary words from the passage. This assignment must be typed. You must include the following:

WHAT TO INCLUDE
• Your Name, Instructor, Date
• Title of article OR oflistening passage
• URL (web address)
• Summary
o Summary: a paragraph summarizing what you read or listened to. Be sure to apply writing skills you have learned in previous classes.Write at least 10 lines (font size 12).
• Vocabulary
o Choose at least 3 new words from the text. For EACH word, you must write down:
▪ The word
▪ Thepart of speech (verb, adjective, noun…)
▪ The definition – in English
▪ The sentence you found the word in
