1 .What is Miss Brill's mood at the beginning of the story and at its end? Why does her mood change? Does this change reflect a static or dynamic character? Explain.
Miss Brill’s mood at thebeginning of the story is one of excitement and joy. She embarks upon her weekly outing with a sense of joining the human pageant. At the end of the story, she, like her fur, returns to her storage“cupboard.” Her mood changes as a reaction to the overheard conversation between the young lovers. She sees herself for the first time through eyes other than her own. Miss Brill is a dynamic character. Thoughin reality her involvement in life does not change, her perception of her involvement changes. The overheard conversation reorders her world, sidelining her mentally from the parade of humanity.
Yo.At the beginning of the story, Miss Brill seem to be very enthusiastic in her every Sunday visit to the park which make her feel happy because it was pleasant to her to watch how people around her copewith others. She really enjoyed watching the human parade. At the end of the story her mood changes as she heard the conversation that a young couple were having sitting at the bench. She realizedthey were talking about her. They comment she was a ‘‘stupid old thing’’ and made jokes about her fu-fur which she greatly loved. This made her mood go really down because she found herself from otherpeople’s perspective other than herself. As the day passed nothing she normally appreciated was exited for her. This makes her a dynamite character.
