The action of this movie takes place in Manhattan, NewYork, where Nina is a ballerina at a very famous dance school. One day, the director Thomas Leroy decides to replace prime ballerina, Beth, for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, with another girl. After a tough casting, Nina is chosen by Thomas, who thinks that her innocence and grace suit perfect for this role. But, Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the WhiteSwan and the Black Swan, that represent sensuality and cunning. Thomas is also impressed by Lily, another dancer, who fits better the Black Swan and becomes increasingly critical of Nina's "frigid"dancing, advises her to stop being a perfectionist and lose herself in the role. In the course of the film the action develops dramatically, as the two girls expand their rivalry into a twistedfriendship. The pressure causes Nina to hallucinate as she descends into a living nightmare.

The plot is full of clever twists and keeps you on the edge of your seat. You never know what is going tohappen next. Black Swan's soundtrack consists of music by Tchaikovsky, which I consider perfectly chosen for this film. Another aspect that I particularly like are the costumes; they are reallyprofessional, with everything that a ballerina needs.

I was impressed by the performance of Natalie Portman, especially the parts when she was dancing. With her fragility and sincerity she looked asif she was a genuine ballerina. As I was watching this movie, I started to remember the days when I was doing ballet and feeling sorry for giving up. I really recommend this movie to everybody!
