Introducción

El siguiente trabajo, tiene como objetivo dar a conocer el concepto de átomo, modelos atómicos, su descubrimiento y sus posteriores avances.Para partir este informe, nos plantearemos la interrogante, ¿Qué es un átomo? El átomo es la unidad de materia más pequeña de un elemento químico que mantiene su identidad o sus propiedades, y que no es posible dividir mediante procesos químicos. Está compuesto por un núcleo atómico, en el que se concentra casi toda su masa, rodeado de una nube de electrones. El núcleo está formado por protones, concarga positiva, y neutrones, eléctricamente neutros.
El concepto de átomo existe desde la Antigua Grecia propuesto por los filósofos griegos Demócrito, Leucipo y Epicuro. En el siglo V a. C., Leucipo sostenía que había un sólo tipo de materia y pensaba que si dividíamos la materia en partes cada vez más pequeñas, obtendríamos un trozo que no se podría cortar más.
