Modest Mouse

Modest Mouse is an American band from Issaquah, in the State of Washington. The band was originally formed by the singer/lyricist/guitarist Isaac Brock, the drummer Jeremiah Green,and bassist Eric Judy (all of them actually on the band). They started playing together in 1993, since that, they have played indie rock, indie folk, and experimental rock. Since the 1996 debut album,''This is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about'', the lineup has centered around Brock, Green and Judy. In 2006 joined three new members to work on their new album, ''We were deadbefore the ship even sank'', the guitarist Johnny Marr (formerly of The Smiths), the percussionist Joe Plummer and multi-instrumentalist Tom Peloso. Then, in 2009, the guitarist Jim Fairchild joined theband, replacing Marr, forming the actual lineup (2012).
The band's name comes from  from a passage from the Virginia Woolf story "The Mark on the Wall" which reads, "I wish I could hit upon a pleasanttrack of thought, a track indirectly reflecting credit upon myself, for those are the pleasantest thoughts, and very frequent even in the minds of modest, mouse-coloured people, who believe genuinelythat they dislike to hear their own praises."

In the 2000s they gained critical success, mainly with the albums, ''The Moon & Antarctica'', and ''We were dead before the ship even sank'', thislast album was their first one to reach number one in US Billboard 200 chart. Also they started to have some changes on the lineup, and some members started to work on their own music, but this didn'taffect the band.
In the last years they have been working on a new album, but it doesn't have a release date yet, but have played some new songs on their shows.
