Strategy 1: My first way of a way to manage my classroom would be to organize the classroom desks into groups of about 4. I would have all the desks in a position so that the students would be facingeach other, but also so that they would not have to strain their necks in order to see what I am teaching them.

Justification 1: There is a lot of talk about cooperative learning. Cooperativelearning is a method in which small groups work together to make sense of new information or solve a new problem. In cooperative learning, the students encourage each other to work together toward acommon goal. It has also been said that students in cooperative learning groups spend significantly more time on-task.

Strategy 2: being able to effectively deliver proper consequences. I would need tomaster the check-in technique as well as the cut-off method so that I could give my students an option, and clearly tell them what is expected of them.

Justification 2: According to the article,"Setting Limits in the Classroom", consequences are like walls, they stop misbehavior. The students will receive immediate answers to their research questions about the teacher and what they can getaway with. They tell the student who is in charge, and they also hold the student accountable for their actions. Consequences, when used consistently, define the path you want your students to stay onand teach them to tune in to your words.

Strategy 3: On the first day of class, I would develop (with the students) a set of rules that we find reasonable for the academic year. The topics oftardiness, late homework, talking, use of technology, etc would be discussed.

Justification 3: it has been shown through studies tat effective classroom managers take time on the first day of school tohelp students understand these expectations and their purpose. Also, if students take part in the creation of the rules, their commitment to the management system has been shown to increase, as well...
