Mujer Vs Hombre
Men and women maybe different psychologically and biologically, however they are the same species. These differences can be explained based what was discussed in class which was with the use of scientific research, statistics, and how society thinks. Scientific research can make clear the biological differences betweenboth genders by providing information about parts of their brain, body functions, etc. Statistics is the collection of any sort of data from a certain group yielding a general result. This can generalize certain qualities of men and women. Furthermore, men and women are what society teaches them, even though it changes overtime, the values and morals stay the same.
In the article “Women vs.Men-vive la difference” it explains that men on average have obviously more body mass than a woman, implying that men are stronger and bigger than women. They also have a larger brain, yet it does not mean that their level of intellectuality is superior to the women’s brain. Also, there is a difference in the levels of hormones like testosterone and estrogen. Both men and women contain these hormones, however men have higher levels of testosterone than women, and women have higher levels of estrogen. An important scientific fact that can explain somewhat the behavior in men and women is how their brain is structured. As explained in the articles “His brain, her brain” and “Sex on the brain”, there are some parts of the brain that are bigger in women and men and vice versa. For example, someparts of the limbic cortex and frontal cortex, which have to do with the emotional responses and decision making, are larger in a woman’s brain than the man’s; the parietal cortex, associated with space perception, and the amygdala, responds to exciting adrenaline igniting information, are bigger in the man’s brain. Also, the “Sex on the brain” article explains why, on average, women are able toendure chronic pain more than most men. This is because a part of the brain, periaqueductal grey, which suppresses pain, works more on men though barely in women. Lastly, the most obvious biological difference between men and women is the reproductive organ; there is barely any similarity in that other than their main purpose, which is to procreate.
Statistics gives people an estimate number ofsomething. For example, on average, women can live up to 78 years and men up to 72. This is done by researching a large group of males and females over a period of time and later adding up the number. Therefore, there during that specific time, there was more women living for a longer period of time than men; this is why statistics change over time. In the article “Woman vs. Man-vive la difference”there are various differences based on statistics like: “four percent of men are color-blind” and a “fifth of one percent of women are color-blind”, 8.7 of men feel guilty about premarital sex and 23.4% of women feel guilty of premarital sex, women have twice as many phobias than men, etc. Another statistic that’s rather untrue to men is that women may have almost the same amount of car crashes thanmen yet they are more fender-benders; men when they crash, however, are more of a risk-taker and result in a lot of expenses for the insurance companies. The article “Why women and men act differently” is a very good example of how society has influenced the way men and women act. In this article, it explains that men, since primitive times, have assumed the role of “hunters andwarriors” in a family and society. In modern society, a man doesn’t have to hunt like it used to but he still has that instinct of protection alertness and superiority that the primitive hunter had. It also mentioned how the women since primitive times, has acted like the house wife and the “weaker gender” and that has not changed much until modern times. Men, since they are born are taught that they...
