BIOGRAPHY Calle 13
Calle 13 is a duo of reggaeton, hip-hop (urban music) of Puerto Rico. The duo is composed of two half-brothers Rene Perez who calls himself Residente and Eduardo Cabra who callsGuest. His nickname comes from the identification that had to give the security guard to enter your home in Trujillo Alto. René is the singer and writer Eduardo sings in choirs, writer andpianist. His sister, Ileana Cabra called PG-13 contributes a few songs with female vocals. The name comes from the name Calle 13 on the street where they grew up in Trujillo Alto.
The duo released two hit in2005 with stations followed in Puerto Rico. The songs were "It's OK To-To '" and "Dear FBI". The latter is a song addressed to the FBI, and was written by Resident after the assassination of FilibertoOjeda Rios Machetero. The duo was criticized because apparently the lyrics promote violence against the authorities, but the group claims that the song should not be taken literally.
Afterachieving fame, the duo has become one of the most sought after by other reggaeton artists and have worked with some of them, singing or co-writing songs. At the end of 2005 managed to release their firstalbum "Calle 13" which received good reviews. Have been nominated for Latin Grammy his hits "Dare You, you!" and "Chulin Culin Chunfly" in this last duet with Julio Voltio ago.
In December 2005, theGovernor of Puerto Rico, Anibal Acevedo Vila admitted listening to the group after his son, recorded some songs on your iPod. This led him to invite them to La Fortaleza and ask them to record a songagainst the firing in the air, which is a common practice during the New Year's Eve celebrations.
Have recently become very popular in countries from South America with his two hits "Dare You,you!" and "Japan."
Residente Calle 13 (Rene) does a duet with Nelly Furtado in her video "Do It".
