Reflection Paper on the movie “Kingdom of Heaven”
“If God was not behind you, how can you do all of this?” this was the dialogue asked by acharacter in the movie Kingdom of Heaven. Basically, Kingdom of Heaven was centered on the rest of Jesus, known to be as Jerusalem. This place is designated not solely for Christians who believe in God butfor everyone who trust in their own religious conviction and faith. Thousands of years ago, Muslims and Christians fight for the Holy Land killing everyone who comes in between their way, “They fightfor wealth, not for God” I must say. Jerusalem is a sacred place not a ground for misunderstanding and conflict. They should not be carrying swords to fight; instead they should bring their heart andmind for the Glory of God. Jerusalem is not like an empire with big walls, it is more like an open kingdom with bridge letting the people of different culture meet in the center.
The bridge that Iam talking about may represent the main purpose of the Interreligious dialogue. IRD brings people together no matter who you believe in and how you express your faith. Muslims and Christians, withoutthis dialogue, might still be continuing the lifeless battle. Not only one but thousands of life must have been wasted. Simple dialogues between these two conflicting parties have set the bar down.They just have to listen to each other and that’s it! They were able to save thousands of men and women with their effortless conversation. IRD is magical, without a doubt. It must be a part ofeveryone’s everyday life. No problem in the world is resolve through war but a mere conversation can solve a thousand. IRD speaks through the heart of every religion, it doesn’t merely throw out words, it wantsto listen, to witness, and to convert. Kingdom of heaven ended with IRD, and that is how it is supposed to be.
“I can do nothing without God”, that is my answer to the question asked above....
