Introduction
Traditionally the purpose of packaging was to contain , preserve, protect and transport a product. Nowadays packaging not only has its old uses but it has come to a point where its importance has increased not only industrially but within our society as well, it has the use of informing, selling and offering diversity of additional goodslikewise having its original uses. The job of the designer becomes more demanding since the competition keeps on growing more and more every day. “Different to a painting that is exhibited individually in a gallery, a package (also a piece of art), is displayed next to its competitor. This requires creativity, ingenuity and hard work”(Etiquetas y Evases).

The Goal
For my personal project I choseas a topic something that has been around me for a very big part of my life, since my mom, is a packaging designer. I have helped my mom in some of her projects ever since I learned Photoshop, a photo editing software, at the age of 12 - now I’m 15 and I have managed to learn an amazing amount of things that I could achieve with this software. Later on in my life I also learned how to use a verysimilar program but very different at the same time, which is, called Adobe illustrator. I had the knowledge I needed to do lots of the graphic work in a professional way, but what I am missing is an important part. In the making of the package, the materials. I learned about this later while helping and talking to my mom.
What I picked as the area of interaction was Human ingenuity. According toIB this appears when a student reflects on how people who had good and original ideas have impacted the world in many levels and when a student learns to appreciate the consequences of implementing these ideas. With this in mind I decided to use Human ingenuity to relate it to my personal project since what I was doing had one thing in common with the definition of this AOI , I was trying to make apackage that was made already into something better by improving the looks as well as the performance , the packaging of a certain product like a label for a soda or a box that preserves some kind of dairy product for longer than usual, this is called “Shelf Life” . This refers to the amount of time that a product will last before it spoils. What I was doing was improving an idea to make it moreefficient or if it wasn’t efficient at all to actually make efficient. Overall I picked to make a package that would help increase the “Shelf life” of the alfajores as well as design its art work and the structure.
My goal was not hard but challenging since I had to come out with something inventive and original. For that I had important tools that helped me achieve this goal I had in aneasier and faster way like for example the knowledge of my mother. My goal was to make a package for any kind of product, and I had several ideas for what to do like a label for a soda bottle etc. but I ended up doing what came to me in a dream, a box for alfajores.
