Born inValladolid, now Morelia, Michoacán, on 27 September 1783. His father was a wealthy Spanish named Joaquín de Iturbide, and Maria Josefa de Arámburu Michoacan, whichallowed him to have a life of dissipation and privileges. He studied at the seminary in his hometown and later joined the army as an ensign colonial provincialregiment. At the outbreak of the armed movement in 1810, the leader Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla invited him to join the cause with the rank of lieutenant colonel, howeverIturbide chose to be under the command of the Viceroy. From the position of the royalist forces, fought the instigators of the insurgent movement, especially for JoseMaria Morelos and Vicente Guerrero. He was tried, sentenced wing death penalty and executed on July 19, 1824
