The wind
Have you ever thought of the wind as a friendly person, or an aggressive one? Wind can be a friend or an enemydepending how you feel about it.
In ‘The Wind’ by James Stephens, and ‘The Wind Tapped Like a Tired Man’ by Emily Dickinson, both authors use the wind as the subject of each poem. One of he mainsimilarities is the wind, because both authors talk about it throughout all the poem. Yet, there are some differences that are clearly stated in the poems. The wind in both poems is the main subject, but theway the authors express wind, is very different.
Both authors use the wind as the subject of each poem, similarities such as this are shown in each poem. In the poem ‘The Wind’, the authorpersonificates the wind by stating, ‘the wind stood up’. The same happens in ‘The Wind Tapped Like a Tired Man’ the author also personificates the wind by saying, ‘the wind is like a man’ and that the windknocked a door. But the main and only similarity in both poems is that both authors talk about the wind which throughout the poems many differences can be found. Wind is basically all what the authors aretalking about and personalizing their own way.
On the other hand, each of the poems express the wind in a different way, and that make the poems have more differences between themselves. One of themain differences between is that in ‘The Wind’, the wind´s attitude is aggressive, but in ‘The Wind Tapped Like a Tired Man’ the wind´s attitude is friendly. Another difference between the poem isthat in ‘The Wind’ the author uses a lot of imagery to give a special sense to the poem, but in ‘The Wind Tapped Like a Tired Man’ the author does not uses any imagery at all. One important differencethat might be in each poem is what the reader feels about the poem. In ‘The Wind’ the reader might feel fear towards the wind or perhaps be okay with it, but in ‘The Wind Tapped Like a Tired Man’ the...
