Hello!
We are family Freudig from Germany and we’d like to welcome an exchange student for a few weeks! In our family are three members: Harald (62 years old), his wife Heidrun (52 years old) andthe fifteen year old daughter Sophia, who goes to “Kant Gymnasium”, a High School in Weil am Rhein, where she’ll get her “Abitur” in 2015.
About our everyday life: We all leave the house in themorning, the first one at 7.30 am and the last one at 8.00 am. Harald comes home at 7.00 pm, Sophia has school’s out at 1.00 pm and Heidrun comes home between 2.00 pm and 3.30 pm. In the evening, we areall eating together a self-cooked meal by Heidrun.
“Weil am Rhein” is the name of our city, which is a real nice one with almost 30.000 inhabitants, in the south-western part of Germany, where youcan enjoy the best weather and the warmest climate of the whole state! Our region is called “the Dreiländereck” because it’s the corner where Germany, France and Switzerland are connected together.So it’s very easy to go to Basel (one of the biggest cities in Switzerland, just at the frontier) by bike! The French side is also not far away and very beautiful; the French people are very proud oftheir small, nice villages and their self-made “Gugelhupf”, a special cake of this region! But now, something about the German side: Our city is in the south of the Black Forest, where you can enjoyterrified natural places. Since 2010, when the “Vitra Haus” by Zaha Hadid (a very popular architect) had been built, Weil am Rhein has also a good reputation for designers and architects. The next biggerman city near Weil am Rhein is Freiburg (50 minutes by train), which is also a beautiful historical city.
About our experience as host family: It’s our first time that we participate at such aproject, so we’re already curious to meet our host! ;-)
The only exchange, which was a small one, in which we’ve already participated was one with Sophia’s school: In 2010, a girl from Paris...
